CLAMPING UNIT

INJECTION UNIT

The process begins with the feeding of solid plastic pellets into the machine’s hopper—a large, funnel-shaped container that stores the raw material. From the hopper, the pellets gravity-feed into a horizontal cylindrical barrel equipped with a rotating screw. The screw, driven by a motor, acts as both a conveyor and a heating element: as it rotates, it pushes the pellets forward through the barrel, while heaters wrapped around the barrel’s exterior apply controlled heat.
The temperature of the barrel is carefully graded (increasing from the hopper end to the injection nozzle) to ensure gradual melting of the plastic, preventing overheating or degradation. For example, polyethylene (PE) typically melts at 160–200°C, while high-performance plastics like polycarbonate (PC) require temperatures of 220–300°C. As the plastic melts, it transforms into a viscous, fluid-like state called “melt.” The rotating screw also compresses the melt, removing air bubbles and ensuring uniformity—critical for avoiding defects like voids in the final product. Once the barrel contains enough melt for one cycle (measured by the screw’s position), the screw stops rotating, and the melting stage ends.
